Why do restaurants need a website anyways?

So many people use Yelp, CitySearch and other local restaurant directories these days, why on earth would you need a separate site?  

Well for starters, a lot of people use directories to find websites for restaurants, not just the location themselves.   A website is the face of your business.  Many potential customers will expect you to have one, and a good looking one at that.  Putting effort into website design and the content shows your customers you strive for excellence.  In your food, in your customer service and in your website.  

Don’t tell me you haven’t seen a hideous website for a restaurant that made you think twice about eating there.  
This does not mean you shouldn’t invest some time in listing your business on restaurant directories.  This is a great Internet Marketing tool that goes hand in hand with your website.  Monitor the reviews and learn from the comments people leave.
